Chinese antique – unglazed rectangle – bird on branch & Chinese poem
This is a rectangular non-glazed bonsai container which measures 13.46 x 10.24 x 6.57 inches. This pot is antique Chinese, originally from the Yixing area of China. One side has an images of a small bird on a blossoming branch which the other has a portion of a Chinese poem. The clay color is a beautiful reddish-brown which has darkened overtime from years of use. You see many modern copies of pots like this, but this is the real deal.
The poem written in Chinese translate roughly to:
“Days are warm and breezy, birds softly chirp, shadows of flowers overlay under the sun which rises high.”
